Coming Up: Street Gardening Workdays

Giving trees love and attention is good, dirty fun

If you appreciate the many trees that line the streets of Ditmas Park and surrounding neighborhoods, here's your chance to show them some you care.

Compost for Brooklyn and the Newkirk Cares Collaborative have two more Street Gardening Workdays scheduled this spring. The next one is this Saturday, April 15th.

Volunteers will be out in force on Newkirk Avenue putting up tree guards, as well as learning about woodworking and composting.

If you're up for getting your hands dirty, e-mail the organizers at newkirk.collaborative@gmail.com. Or just show up in your favorite durable clothes at the corner of Newkirk Avenue and East 8th Street at 10 a.m.
