Fireworks Should Not Make an Appearance on Fourth of July, NYPD Says

The NYPD cautions against using fireworks as they are dangerous and illegal.

The Fourth of July is just around the corner, and with the celebration of America comes the familar sound and sight of fireworks. But before heading out to buy fireworks for the celebration, the NYPD cautions against it.

"The NYPD is rewarding up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons possessing or distributing fireworks," the police department said in an email. "If you use fireworks, you or someone else can get seriously hurt."

A person can be arrested, cars can be confiscated and businesses closed as result of possessing fireworks, the NYPD noted.

"Concerned citizens can anonymously report the delivery, sale or storage of fireworks to 911 for crimes in progress or 311 to just provide information," the email continued.
