Pre-Kindergarten Registration Now Open
Public Advocate de Blasio says demand for pre-K seats far exceeds supply across five boroughs.
Pre-kindergarten registration opens for Brooklyn schools this week and will run through early April.
As of March 4, parents will be able to register their students for pre-kindergarten, which is free of charge, as long as their children turn 4 years old in 2013.
The programs are available at local public schools and community based organizations.

Half-day programs run in both the mornings and afternoons.
The final day for registration is April 5.

On Monday, city Public Advocate Bill de Blasio released a report that found applications for pre-K seats far exceeded supply across the five boroughs.
“The shortage of high-quality, full-time pre-k seats is hurting thousands of families in every borough,” de Blasio said. “We can’t continue to be a city where only a fraction of our kids has access to early education and where working parents have to roll the dice every year and hope they’re lucky enough to secure a seat.”
