BROOKLYN DISTRICT LEADER RODNEYSE BICHOTTE ENDORSES DE BLASIO AS MAYORAL CHOICE FOR NYC'S CARIBBEAN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY
 

New York, NY - Brooklyn District Leader and Caribbean-American community activist Rodneyse Bichotte endorsed Bill de Blasio for mayor today, citing his record of fighting for New Yorkers across all five boroughs, his efforts to prevent the closure of LICH and Interfaith Medical Center, and his support for the landmark Community Safety Act, primarily sponsored by Council Members Jumaane Williams and Brad Lander.
 
District Leader Rodneyse Bichotte represents the 42nd Assembly District, which contains the communities of Ditmas Park, Flatbush, East Flatbush and Midwood. 
 
"Over the past two decades, Bill de Blasio has fought to make our City more inclusive of New Yorkers across all five boroughs," said Rodneyse Bichotte. "As an aide to New York City's first black Mayor and as campaign manager to Hilary Clinton, New York's first female U.S. Senator, he has consistently worked to make the leadership of our city reflect the diversity of its people.

Bichotte continued, "Bill de Blasio understands the challenges facing New York City families and outer-borough residents. He is the only candidate committed to real police reform that would keep our neighborhoods safe without subjecting our law-abiding young men to unnecessary and humiliating police action. Along with Council Members Jumaane Williams and Brad Lander, Bill fought for the passage of the Community Safety Act, to create an official ban on racial profiling. Bill is also the only candidate committed to providing quality, accessible healthcare for all New Yorkers, fighting tirelessly to prevent the closure of community hospitals in communities of color."

"I am honored to have Rodneyse's support in the fight to end the overuse and abuse of stop and frisk," said Bill de Blasio. "The next mayor must be committed to creating an independent Inspector General for the NYPD, enforcing a racial profiling ban, and appointing a new commissioner, and I am the only candidate who supports all three of these necessary reforms." 

 Bichotte's announcement is another affirmation of the strong support in the Caribbean-American community for Bill de Blasio. Artist and activist Harry Belafonte, Congresswoman Yvette Clark, former City Council Member Una Clarke, Bishop Orlando Findlayter, and progressive organizations like the Haitian American Association for Political Action (HAAPA) PAC all have endorsed Bill de Blasio for Mayor.
