Paul Goldman, Owner of Almac Hardware, Passes Away

The Goldman family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Flatbush Development Corporation.

 

Paul Goldman, the long-time owner of Almac Hardware in Newkirk Plaza and a member of the Flatbush Development Corporation, passed away Thursday after suffering a massive heart attack last Sunday.

He is survived by his wife Angela and his extended family and community friends.

At the age of 37, Goldman became the third owner of Almac Hardware in 1984, Ditmas Park Corner reported. Condolence cards were being accepted at the store at 2 Newkirk Plaza, the Corner noted.

"Paul was a committed and passionate entrepreneur who exemplified the definition of community leader," said Robin Redmond, executive director of FDC. "Paul led the charge to organize the Newkirk Plaza merchants and was instrumental throughout the renovation and beautification of the Plaza. As a board member of the Flatbush Development Corporation, he shared his vision for the revitalization of NewkirkPlaza and of Flatbush as a whole."

"Paul was your go to guy for all do it yourselfers," she continued. "He brought character and knowledgeable advice to every sale. He led by example and trained his staff to follow in his footsteps."

A Chapel Service to honor Goldman will be held Sunday, Feb. 10 at Gutterman's Chapel at 175 North Long Beach Road in Rockville Centre from 3-7 p.m., with a special prayer service at 7 p.m.

The burial service will be held at the Pinelawn Cemetery at 2030 Wellwood Ave. in Farmingdale at 10 a.m. 

In memory of Goldman, Almac Hardware will be closed this coming Sunday and Monday.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Flatbush Development Corporation in honor of Goldman.
