The Flatbush/Midwood location of Masbia, a soup kitchen that has served over 250,000 meals since the first location opened five years ago, is in need of Thanksgiving week volunteers. They’re already fully booked with volunteers for Thanksgiving, but they need people to do some kitchen prep before the holiday. Head in next Tuesday Nov. 23 and/or Wednesday Nov. 24 to help get food ready between 8:30am and 1:30pm, or to serve and clean between 3 and 9pm on one of those days.
Fill out the volunteer form online to schedule a time (be sure to specify the exact dates and times you’re available), and note on the form that you heard about it on the Ditmas Park blog. Masbia will be able to confirm your volunteer request beginning Monday.
You can schedule for a one-time opportunity, but ongoing volunteering is highly encouraged.
