Police Update - 70th Precinct

The 70th Precinct has posted its November Community Council meeting minutes online. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 26th, 2011 at 7:30 PM in the United Cerebral Palsy of New York City's Community Room at 175 Lawrence Avenue.

There's been a bit of confusion on the recent gunpoint mugging on Marlborough between Beverley and Cortelyou - and as of last Thursday, a police report has been filed of this incident. According to DI Monteforte, there had been a "miscommunication" between the officers who responded and the victim, and that's why no report had been filed. The officers had asked the victim if she wanted to go to the precinct to press charges. The victim thought she'd already given the details of the incident to the officers. Because she could not identify the mugger visually, she didn't want to go to the precinct to pursue the matter further. The victim thought there would be some record of the incident, was surprised to learn there was none other than her 911 call, and went to the precinct last Thursday to file it.

A lesson - Do not assume that because the police showed up there will be any record that they did. Make sure the incident gets documented. Please take care and be safe.
