NYPD Announces Street Closures, Delays for Dec. 22-23

If you're traveling during the holiday weekend, be sure to know where to expect gridlock.

 

The New York City Police Department today announced street closures and anticipated traffic delays for the weekend December 22 & 23 2012.  Drivers should expect delays in the following areas:

The following events may have a significant impact on the flow of traffic in the areas indicated:

The New York City Department of Transportation has announced the following dates as Gridlock Alert Days for the upcoming holiday season:

  • Friday, December 21st

On all holiday season Gridlock Alert Days during the holiday embargo, lane closures are prohibited from 6 a.m.-11:59 p.m. on the following highways (and their service roads) and East/Harlem River Bridges (work behind permanent barrier, not impacting on vehicular, bicycle, or pedestrian traffic flow may continue) –

Brooklyn

  • Belt Parkway  
  • Brooklyn-Queens Expressway 
  • Gowanus Expressway   
  • Prospect Expressway   

Bronx

  • Cross Bronx Expressway
  • Major Deegan Expressway
  • Bruckner Expressway
  • Hutchinson River Parkway
  • New England Thruway

Queens

  • Belt Parkway
  • Brooklyn-Queens Expressway
  • Cross Island Parkway
  • Grand Central Parkway
  • Van Wyck Expressway Madison Avenue Bridge
  • Long Island Expressway 145th Street Bridge

Manhattan

  • West Street (9A)/Miller Hwy/Henry Hudson Parkway
  • FDR Drive/Harlem River Drive

Staten Island

  • Staten Island Expressway
  • West Shore Expressway

East River Bridges

  • Queensboro/Ed Koch Bridge
  • Brooklyn Bridge 
  • Manhattan Bridge
  • Williamsburg Bridge

Harlem River Bridges

  • University Heights Bridge
