Frequently Asked Question about a Winter Sun Farms CSA

Where is the produce from?

Winter Sun Farms partners with local organic and sustainable farms to supply great tasting frozen and fresh vegetables all winter long. **The name of each farm is always right on the package.

What’s in a share?

Because we work with small farms, the quantities and types of vegetables and fruits may very. We continually partner with new farms in order to bring you the finest selection of the Hudson Valley’s best produce.

Planned produce for the 2010/2011 season:

Frozen: diced plum tomatoes; mixed color peppers; whole raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries; yellow & green summer squash; broccoli florets; green beans; butternut squash puree; edamame; fall greens; diced Carolina Gold yellow tomatoes. Root crops: potatoes; carrots Fresh: pea shoots

Can we get other products with our membership?

Yes! Winter Sun Farms offers optional share items such as eggs, cheese, and coffee. This year additional new items such as a “soup share” will be offered as well as an extended distribution month. Our CSA members do enjoy having these optional products!

How and when are WSF shares delivered?

Shares are delivered once a month over 4 months, one time each for the months of December – March.

How many people will a share feed?

Winter Sun Farms is not attempting to feed you and your family completely through the winter months, rather; we want to keep you connected to your local food source with some great organic fruits, vegetables and greens over the course of winter. Each share will supplement at least 3-4 family meals a month. (For a family of 4.)How soon do I need to sign up?

There is a limit to the number of people we can take for each distribution site. Memberships are

taken on a “first come, first served” basis. Signing up early helps to reserve a space.

What happens if I forget to pick -up my share?

Forgotten shares are donated to communities in need. Each local CSA coordinator arranges for the

distribution of leftover food.
