It's finally happened. Coffee Mob, the long awaited coffee shop on Newkirk at E. 16th St. opened over the weekend.
On behalf of everyone living south of Newkirk Road, I say "thank you, thank you, thank you" for providing a second coffee shop (after Salud) in our end of the 'hood.
Owner Buck Berk held a soft opening on Saturday at and when we passed by it was packed. Berk expressed his gratitude for the community support on his facebook page:
Hello EVERYBODY!!! I want to take this time to Thank everybody for their support this opening weekend. It was a huge success and we could not have done it without you! It is so amazing to see friends, make new friends, and support the community in this way, serving great coffee! And I also want to mention that we are taking everyones suggestions at heart and as we smooth things out over the next few weeks we will start to incorporate the concerns to the best of our capability! Thanks again, and Let's drink some Coffee!
The cafe is having guacamole special for the next few days: they'll make it fresh to order and if you mention the special, you get a free cup of coffee.
According to Ditmas Park Corner, they are also serving pastries from Ceci-Cela, bagels from The Kosher Bagel Hole, hot coffee, espresso, decaf drip, and house-made cold brew from Toby’s Estate, as well as teas from In Pursuit of Tea.
Berk has been working hard for months to transform the corner storefront at 1514 Newkirk, and the results are gorgeous. See photos on their instagram page.
