The annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Prospect Park will start on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 9 a.m.
The three-mile walk, which will be held in the Nethermead, or the back end of Prospect Park, will raise funds that will go toward research to find a cure for breast cancer.
"The journey to end breast cancer starts with a single step," Making Strides Against Breast Cancer's website says. "Take that step with us at one of our American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks. Just a few hours of your time will help bring a lifetime of change for people facing breast cancer and their families."
Making Strides has raised $200,389,087.39 through fundraising and donations, still with two days until the walk commences.
As of Friday, the top participant, Monica Coronado, raised $5,591, the top team, the Eric Wilson team, raised $200 million and the top company, the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, raised $14,455.
There is no minimum donation required to participate. If you are interested in getting involved you can register to walk, donate online, or sign up to be a volunteer.
