First-Ever 'Prospect Park Fair' on Saturday

Free event includes food trucks and tastings, music and local vendors, plus information about activities and programs offered in the park.

Head to the Prospect Park Bandshell tomorrow for the first-ever Prospect Park Fair. 

The free event includes food trucks and tastings, music and local vendors, plus information about activities and programs offered in the park, including as the new Pop-Up Audubon, Lefferts Historic House, tennis, volunteering, and space rentals.  

"We wanted to bring all the aspects of a New York City street fair (except the tube socks and sunglasses) to Prospect Park. And it's a great opportunity for us to highlight businesses that support the park and provide a fun activity for people," said alliance spokesman Paul Nelson.  

The event replaces the Prospect Park Business Expo, which, Nelson said, the alliance wanted to make "more exciting."   

More than a dozen area businesses will have information and activities including The Brooklyn Cyclones, the Great GoogaMooga.

Jessica D'Amico, owner of Lady J + 1, for example,is planning a live jewelry making demonstration as well as selling wares from her Classon Avenue store.
"It's a really great way for my little shop to connect with the other neighborhoods in Brooklyn," she said.

The fair takes place rain or shine at the Prospect Park Bandshell (Prospect Park West and 9th Street) on Saturday, April 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
