Blogger Captures Local Artist at Work

Andrew Lenaghan photographed painting outside his Ditmas Park home.

Andrew Lenaghan is known for his cityscape and interior paintings. In The New York Times, a reviewer said that despite the fact that from afar his large paintings look hyper-realistic the underlying style reveals a "a deft, lively touch."

"...and the extreme detailing reads not as cold-blooded copying but as an affectionate alertness to the world's surfaces," the paper reported in its review.

Last week, one of our bloggers, Raquel Irizarry, stumbled upon Lenaghan while painting his Ditmas Park Victorian home. No, he wasn't putting a fresh coat on the facade but he was actually rendering the house in a portrait.
