Ditmas Park Rehabilitation / Care Center in Brooklyn, NY is providing a Warming Station for local senior citizens seeking refuge from cold weather, especially in the frigid evening hours.

Brooklyn, NY (January 27, 2014) - Ditmas Park Rehabilitation / Care Center, a premier rehabilitation and skilled nursing center located in the Ditmas Park area of Brooklyn, will holding its first warming station for local needy senior citizens. The warming station will be manned by Ditmas Park staff and will include warm refreshments and blankets. In addition to allowing local senior citizens and those in the area to come in and warm up, nursing staff and volunteers will be providing tips on how seniors can keep warm during cold weather.


According to Bloomberg.com, the upcoming “rare winter storm will make many people who love snow very happy”. Much of the city is still recovering from last week’s winter storm and brown and white slush dots New York City streets and sidewalks. Heavy snowfall is expected all day Tuesday, which should create hazardous travel conditions, especially as fresh snow layers on the snow and ice presently on the streets.

“I’ll admit today is a little warm,” says Abe Buchler, Administrator at Ditmas Park Rehabilitation / Care Center. “However, Tuesday is expected to be a snow day and we will see freezing conditions over the next few days, which will make moving around a little dangerous. If you are an elderly resident living in or around the Ditmas Park area, feel free to stop by to come in out of the cold conditions.”
