Walking Tour Tribute to Beastie Boys' MCA to Hit Midwood Mural

The tour will visit spots throughout in Brooklyn and Manhattan important to the group's history, as well as honor to the life of Adam "MCA" Yauch.

A Beastie Boys walking tour is scheduled for Saturday, taking fans to destinations across the city relating to the group’s history – including a stop to the giant Midwood mural paying respect to the late Adam Yauch.

The tour, free and coordinated by fans, will also serve as a memorial of sorts to Yauch, also known as MCA, who . His 48th birthday would have been the next day, Sunday August 5.

The group is meeting at Frederick Douglass Playground, on the corner of 101st St. and Amsterdam Ave. in Manhattan between 9 and 9:15 a.m. The location is a block away from the first stop, which was a loft where the Beastie’s played their first gig together.

Later in the day, the group will swing by the State Street Basketball Courts in Downtown Brooklyn where Yauch used to play – the rapper grew up nearby on State St.

After that, the group will head down to Midwood, where a massive mural depicting the rapper’s name and the word “gratitude" was painted after his death.

“Expect lots of Beastie Boys related music, fans sharing stories, and most importantly, good times,” says the group’s Facebook page.
