Cuomo Changes 'I Love NY' Logo

In an effort to boost tourism throughout the State, Gov. Cuomo will replace the 'heart' in the iconic 'I [heart] NY' ad.

"I pizza NY" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, but that isn't stopping Gov. Cuomo from moving ahead with plans to replace New York's iconic "I ♥ NY" with such an image as part of a campaign announced Wednesday.

"The ads feature destinations in all regions of the state," a release detailing the plan said. "After years of cuts to tourism promotion, this ad campaign fulfills Governor Cuomo’s campaign promise to support tourism across the state this year."

In addition to a pizza slice, expect to see images of a hot air balloon, a beach ball and a stock car replace the heart, the Daily News reported.

The State asked residents and tourists to submit personal sketches depicting what they love about New York State, the release said.

People can replace the heart in the logo with their own drawing and submit it online to be displayed in an online gallery.

"The new 'I Love NY' ads are part of a $5 million tourism marketing campaign within the larger 'New York Open for Business,' a $50 million statewide business initiative," the release said. "The 'I Love NY' ad campaign is expected to expand to feature other tourism seasons in the future."

The ads will focus on summer tourism destinations, will air for seven weeks and are targeted to tourists within a five to six hour driving range to New York, the release continued.
