Brooklyn Nets to Hold Auditions for Kids Dance Team

August 24 auditions open to children ages 6-13 with at least two years of dance training.

The Brooklyn Nets are searching for the next generation of gifted young dancers to join the Brooklyn Nets Kids dance team.  Open auditions for the dance team will be held on Friday, August 24 at 4 p.m. at the Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center at 161 Ashland Place on the LIU Brooklyn campus.  Registration begins at 3 p.m. and dancers must arrive by 4 p.m. to participate.

Celebrity choreographer Tanisha Scott will be the Head Coach of the Brooklyn Nets Kids. Scott has worked with JAY Z, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Sean Paul, and many others. The dance team will be showcased in front of thousands of fans at Brooklyn Nets home games at Barclays Center and represent the Brooklyn Nets at events throughout the New York metropolitan area.

Brooklyn Nets Kids are seeking boys and girls ages 6-13 with at least two years of dance training. Dancers will be asked to demonstrate their ability to learn and perform choreography. Tumbling and break-dancing skills are a plus, but not required. Participants should wear dance attire and non-marking sneakers or dance shoes. One parent must be present at registration to sign a participation waiver. Additionally, dancers must be available to attend rehearsals in Brooklyn once a week, as well as Saturday and Sunday home games at Barclays Center.

For dancers looking to get an edge at the audition, the Brooklynettes dance team will be hosting the Brooklyn Nets Kids Workshop on Wednesday, August 22 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at The Arnold and Marie Schwartz Center at 1 University Plaza on the LIU Brooklyn campus.

LIU Brooklyn is accessible by the following major subway lines: 2, 3, 4, or 5 train to Nevins Street Station,  B, Q, or R train to DeKalb Avenue Station, and A, C, or G train to Hoyt-Schermerhorn Street Station.
